Panning at SAVA
This past week we went out to try out luck with panning! Panning is an action sports technique used with slow shutter speeds to make a subject appear in motion. No Photoshop skills used in any of these photos! The settings were roughly around 1/40 to 1/80, in the Shutter Priority mode called Tv on the Canon T3i's. The ISO varied, some were at 400, others at 3200. The students struggled, but after a good dose of persistence, they got it! Way to go Photo 1!
A great visit from the Arts Institute
Huge thanks to Amanda Harper for stopping by at the Elk Grove - SAVA Campus. The Arts Institute is an awesome college for those who are thinking of the arts as a major! Amanda took her time to visit with us, show us a lot about the various programs that the college offers. From culinary to fashion design to....PHOTOGRAPHY! Thanks much! If you are interested in contacting Amanda for any additional information or questions, email her at aharper@aii.edu

Portraits at SAVA
For the past few weeks the students have been exploring with portraits! We are very challenged with our surroundings, but I say that the students have ALL made the very best of the situation and have pulled some rather amazing images together! Here are only a few images! Much more to come!

The blogs are HOT!
By Rachel Estrada for vexxphotography.blogspot.com |
The students are having a super fun time with the blogs folks! Fellow teachers, if you have a student enrolled in Photography, 1 or 2, ask them to share their blog with you! Please bookmark the page and check in as often as you wish! If you have a Google account, you can log in and comment on your students work! "Its perfect for affirmations," said Kim Shores, Head Teacher at SAVA Firehouse!
