Depth of Field - Basic Photography - Sacramento

This wee we worked on depth of field in manual mode!

Depth of field is the amount of distance between the nearest and farthest objects that appear in acceptably sharp focus in a photograph. A preferred selection Depth of field ("DOF") in a focused subject in an image can be quite subjective.

The students rocked it this week!  So proud of the work they are all doing this year!

Black & White in manual mode - Sacramento

Victoria S.
This week the students we pushed more than ever, they went into manual mode! They learned how to set the ISO, f-stops and shutter speeds based on the subject lighting etc. In addition to the manual mode, we took a another step back in time and went black and white. The subject was "Cars!" As you can see, they did a great job of looking at cars with a twist! Well done photo rockstars!!!!

Hector Amezcua from the Sacramento Bee - Guest Speaker

Today we had the honor of meeting Hector Amezcua from the Sacramento Bee. Hector gave us a couple of hours of his time to share his passion of photography, his story, loads of stories and incredible images from his own personal collection. The students were engaged and very interested in how he produced images for the assignments. A huge thanks to Hector for spending a part of his day with us!

Black & White - Manual Mode - Elk Grove

Old school day at SAVA! Today the students learned to use all of the manual features of the Cannon! No more auto mode folks! We managed ISO, shutter speeds and the aperture! In addition to the manual mode, we also took a step back into time with shooting in Black and White.
